How to completely uninstall applications on Windows

Uninstalling an unwanted program or software completely from windows will definitely help to speed up the windows. To remove the program, we generally uninstall it from the control panel. But that doesn't mean that the software is uninstalled completely. After deleting the software from the control panel, still the traces or files of program left. Some people use software to remove these traces but sometimes this software also fails to uninstall the program completely. So, let us uninstall the program completely by doing it manually:

1) Uninstall the software from control panel

At first, open the control panel and click on ‘Program and Features’ button. Now choose the program that you want to uninstall and press OK.  After doing so, still there are some files which didn't get delete with uninstalling the program.

2) Delete the remaining files of the software

Now, there are some folders and files which still remain. So, to eradicate those files and folders, type:

%programfiles%
%appdata%

And if after executing the commands, if you find any program related to the one that you have deleted in above step, remove it. To do so, just click on start button and type run. Now press enter and you will see the different folders containing files.  Just remove them one by one.

3) Delete the files from the registry as well

While uninstalling a program, many files and folders are not get deleted from the registry. If you want to uninstall the program completely, then you need to remove those files from the windows registry as well also. Follow the below steps to delete the keys from the registry:
a) At first click on start button and type regedit in the box that appears.
b) Now, you will see the “Registry Editor”.
c) Then you have to move to the following keys:

         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
         HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software

d) Now, you have to look for a key of the uninstalled program in the above mentioned keys. And if you able to find the key successfully, just delete it from there.
e) And if you get the error message such as “cannot delete key: Error ” while deleting the registry keys, then:
Actually sometimes the key name is identical to the company name or the other name. What you need to do is to expand the keys and check it properly. If you search it properly, you will definitely find it. And remove it.

Note: But remember to take the back up of all the data before deleting any key. 

4) Delete the files from Temp folder

Lastly, we have to remove the files from the Temp folder. First you need to type the below command in ‘Run’ and then press the ‘enter’ button:

%temp%
temp

Now find and delete the files. While deleting the files, if you find that the window is showing error, then that software may be running or the window services is using that file.

Therefore, this is the way to uninstall the software completely from the system. And doing this will definitely improve the performance and speed of the computer or laptop. There are other tips also to increase the SPEED of the computer as well.

Tips to Speed up the Windows


Is it compulsory to speed up windows?? If yes, let us see how?? After working on computer for so long, it is very necessary to speed up the computer to carry out the further activities smoothly. These days, slow PC or Laptops has been the common problem among all operating systems. The causes of this problem are the junk files, which slowly and gradually accumulates and results in decreasing performance of the computer.



So, let us see the several tips to overcome with this problem:

1)  Remove unnecessary Login items:

To solve the problem of slow start-up, it is mandatory to disable the number of start-up items which are not needed. To do this activity, first go to start button and type ‘msconfig’. Then press the enter button. After pressing the button, you will see the 'System Configuration' pop up will open. Then, click on start-up menu and un-check all the login items which are not needed at all. Now, at last, click on apply button and press OK.

2)  Clean your hard drive and defrag it:

This is the most essential step as all the junk files such as temporary files, log files etc. got accumulated which results in slow PC. So, to clean away all the junk, click on start button -> All programs -> Accessories -> System tools - > Disk clean-up. Then, check the files that you want to clean up. Also, if you want to remove ‘system restore’, then click on system files button and finally press More Options tab. Then, click on OK. Now to defrag your hard drive, follow the same steps till System tools and click on Disk Defragmenter. Then, click on ‘analyse disk’ option and after that de-fragment the required disk.

3)  Upgrade software accordingly:

Always upgrade the latest version of software to avoid any inconvenience.  This step is very important to optimize performance of the windows. To update the windows with the latest software, move on to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates. This task may take some time to find all the available updates. Then, install the latest one.

4)  Uninstall all the unnecessary programs:

Sometimes certain software’s which are not needed occupies the space, affecting the performance of the computer badly. Uninstalling them completely will surely boost up the speed of the windows. For this action also, you can go to control panel and uninstall the program.


5)  Disable visual effects accordingly:

To enhance the speed of the computer, disable the visual effects. The steps to do this task are: Hold the windows key and Pause/break button simultaneously and click on 'Advanced system settings'. Then, click the 'Advanced tab' and press the 'Settings' button under the section of performance tab. Now, just disable the effects which are not needed. And if you can’t be able to choose from it, then click on ‘Adjust for best performance’. This option will simply disable all the options.

6)  Install good antivirus, malware program:

Installing good antivirus will always help you to keep the virus away from your system. It will protect you from many baleful virus causing damage to files, folder etc. Also, there are certain software which check only for malware, so you may also install them to get away from these threats as well.

7)  Upgrade RAM Memory:

Updating the hardware can also be the reason of slow computer. This is very crucial step to check the RAM memory and upgrade it as per the need.
